Why Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)?
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a unique therapeutic method currently being used to help ease symptoms of various forms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, addiction, obsessive compulsive disorder. KAP is a hybrid treatment approach, utilizing ketamine as a catalyst to enhance and deepen the therapeutic process.
Psychedelic psychotherapy is a term used to describe the process of experiencing altered states of consciousness to support psychological insight, shift maladapative and addictive behavior patterns, and support one's spiritual growth and return to Self. Ketamine is currently the only approved psychedelic medicine for therapeutic use.
The ketamine experience allows for the relaxation of our usual thinking patterns and attachments to stories. This often leads to an interruption of negative cycles and preoccupations and a sense of relational openness. In many ways, ketamine can act as a "short cut” through our habituated patterns of protection and defenses, allowing us to discover what lies beneath.
